Uploading Text, Photos, Video, and Audio

Text. eTribute enables you to create your own original text to commemorate or memorialize a special event: capture and publish your thoughts, feelings, and impressions. You may wish to quote from other sources, but your quotes should be properly attributed and must be short to qualify as a fair use under the Copyright Act. Please do not include or build upon characters and plots found in others' works, such as books, movies or television shows, without their owners' express permission. eTribute will not be able to publish your expression if it contains or builds upon such works without permission.

Photos. Please feel free to include snapshots of family and friends or photographs of your own original artwork. As is true for text, photographs also enjoy federal copyright protection, so please be sure that the photos you include were taken by you or your family members. eTribute is not able to publish others' photographs and images without their express permission, even if they are freely available elsewhere on the Web. We also cannot publish images that incorporate or build upon others' ccharacters and images without their permission.

Video. eTribute welcomes your original short video clips of family, friends and special events, or your own creative video works. eTribute cannot publish clips of television shows or movies without express permission so please do not post them or include them in your own video. Also, please do not include or build upon characters or plot elements from books, television shows or movies without their owners' permission.

Audio. You may wish to include a special song or other audio file as part of your video clip. Published musical works are also protected by federal copyright. eTribute will not be able to post your video if it includes a copyrighted musical work or audio file without the owners' express permission.

Processing Monetary Donations

The donation you make to The University of Texas at Austin through your tribute will support enhancements to the Tower Garden. eTribute will process your credit card gift at the time that you create and submit your completed tribute. Your gift is tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

eTribute cannot accept multiple gifts for a single tribute at this time. Only one credit card can be accepted per tribute. The individual whose name is on the credit card will receive an acknowledgment and an official tax receipt from the University. The tax receipt will be emailed to the individual whose email address appears on eTribute's Donor Account Registration Form.

Perpetual Tributes

The University will display your tribute on its eTribute public web site permanently, unless you request otherwise in writing.
